Tarikul Islam

Co-Founder & President

​

Tarikul Islam received a Bachelor of Science (magna cum laude with the highest honors) in Chemistry from New York University where he did his undergraduate research in material science. He also founded and was the first president of Mentoring Urban Youth, a program that guided underprivileged urban high school students with their college applications.

Paul Chiariello

 

Co-Founder & Scholars Program Coordinator

Paul Chiariello, LMSW, MSc Ed, has a diverse background in research, non-profit management, education, and clinical social work. After graduating from Rutgers University, Paul completed a Fulbright in Indonesia, an HiA Human Rights Fellowship in Germany, and his MSc in Sociology of Education at the U. of Oxford. He then worked with humanitarian non-profits and think tanks, such as the Global Literacy Project and the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy, in post-conflict contexts in Uganda, Bosnia, and other countries abroad. Thereafter, he developed and led socio-emotional, critical thinking and ethics curricula for camps and school programs. In addition to his current work with the JS Scholars Program, he is a licensed psychotherapist.

Rashed Khan

 

Co-Founder & Chief Financial Officer

Originally from Bangladesh, Rashed Khan grew up in the Bronx. He holds a Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from Stony Brook University. An avid explorer of all corners of NYC, Rashed enjoys long walks and new culinary experiences. He is fascinated by the rise of artificial intelligence, particularly in how it can help humanitarian causes, and hopes to study the subject more rigorously in the near future.
